What types of legal services do we offer?

Ouellette Hoare Claxton An Association of Independent Law Practices provides criminal defence services for all types of criminal offences, some of which include:

Drug Crimes

Drug crimes are those crimes dealing with the possession, distribution, and production of illegal drugs. The penalties for committing drug crimes vary considerably depending on the type, quantity, and reason for possessing an illegal substance. Courts are sentencing heavily for these offences. It is more important now, than ever before, to retain defence counsel with expertise in defending drug offences.

When defending both drug prosecutions and general drug-related criminal charges, an experienced team of criminal lawyers like ours can raise many other issues, such as the constitutionality of the search. Charter applications can be very successful at having evidence obtained through such breaches excluded at trial.

The lawyers at Ouellette Hoare Claxton An Association of Independent Law Practices have helped clients avoid convictions, harsh penalties, and criminal records for many charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, some of which include:

  1. Possession of a Prohibited or Controlled Substance s.4(1);
  2. Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking s.5(2);
  3. Trafficking in a Prohibited or Controlled Substance s.5(1);
  4. Producing, Cultivating or Growing a Controlled Substance s.7; and
  5. Importing, Exporting or Possessing for the Purpose of Exporting a Controlled Substance

Sexual Assault

Sexual assault is a serious criminal offense and facing such an accusation can result in life-changing consequences. The severity of the punishment depends on what type of sexual assault crimes are committed, which includes indecent exposure, exhibitionism, and voyeurism.

The penalties for committing these types of crimes vary depending on the severity level of the offence committed. Penalties can range from fines to prison time.

Domestic Assault

Domestic violence is a serious issue in Canada. According to the law, any violence, physical or not, that occurs within a household is considered domestic. Any form of abuse is considered as well; emotional, psychological and verbal are all included. This applies for both current or ex-spouses or people who share a child in common.
